Vinyl. Didysis Čiurlys
„Didysis Čiurlys“ is an electronic music symphony inspired by the works of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, where classical imagination merges with contemporary sound architecture.
This piece was born as a live music track for a large-scale cultural event, but it transcended the limits of a one-time performance and became an independent musical narrative. Roe Deers creates a dialogue here with the world of Čiurlionis – not by directly quoting him, but by interpreting his inner states, rhythm, silence, and cosmic scale.
The work was created for the production of director Aurimas Kamantauskas's electro-choreographic symphony, prepared for the opening event of Druskininkai – the cultural capital of Lithuania. The music emerged as an integral part of the staged narrative, where sound, movement, and space function as one composition. The choreography for the event was created by Sadeck Berrabah (France). The premiere took place on January 11, 2025, and the event was broadcast live on LRT television. The event „Didysis Čiurlys“ received worldwide recognition, ranking among the top six cultural events in the world at the "BEA World" awards.
The music intertwines analog synthesizers, electronic textures, and slow, breathing symphonic thinking. It is neither a reconstruction nor an adaptation – it is a contemporary reflection on time, nature, and the inner landscape of man, inspired by the creative universe of Čiurlionis.
„Didysis Čiurlys“ invites listeners to experience it not in fragments, but as a cohesive piece – from the first to the last track.
