Photography is an integral part of the phenomenon of the work of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, adding to the special aura that envelops the entire oeuvre of the Lithuanian genius. It was not the main form of the artist's creative expression: he is known to the world primary as a painter and composer, who at the beginning of the 20h century innovatively fused painting and music, revealing himself as a Symbolist with a unique artistic vocabulary. Čiurlionis' photography also contains the aesthetic codes of early Modernism, which appear to have been set not through a purposeful creative strategy, but by the artist's innate ability to see differently and to express his relationship with the world around him without any constraint.
