The book is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of M. K. Čiurlionis and, by presenting the little-studied period of M. K. Čiurlionis's childhood, youth and environment, gives a new meaning to the creative legacy of the most famous Lithuanian artist and composer.
The book presents in detail all members of the Čiurlionis family and introduces M. K.
Čiurlionis' grandparents and other relatives, family traditions, values, and the culture and upbringing that prevailed in the family. The publication presents the context of the artist's environment - the then Druskininkai resort and surroundings and the social circle of M. K. Čiurlionis
in Druskininkai. The inspirations for the artist's work in Druskininkai are described, and his works of art were created here. It also tells about the historical homestead (now the M. K. Čiurlionis House-Museum) from its acquisition to the present day, presents items belonging to the family and their stories.
Based on the data of the historical archive, the dates and places of birth of the Čiurlionis family members were presented and clarified. The analysis of this data contributes to the refinement of the biography of M. K. Čiurlionis. The book presents previously unpublished plans of the Čiurlionis homestead. For the first time, objects from Druskininkai, recorded in the work of M. K. Čiurlionis, are also presented.
