On June 7, 2018, commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Aleksandras Mykolas Račkus – doctor, collector, public and cultural figure, and marking the Year of World Lithuanians, the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art opened the exhibition "A Special Gift for Lithuania" at the Historical Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaunas. One part of the exhibition presented A. M. Račkus' numismatic collection consisting of collector's coins from the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania and other nations of the world, valuable medals, exotic varieties, rare numismatic and Lithuanian book. Another part of the exhibition acquainted visitors with social activities of the American Lithuanians of the 1860s – 1930s, and their contribution to the restoration and consolidation of the state of Lithuania. This catalogue is a colourful and meaningful document reflecting the exhibition, which focussed on the prominent personality of A. M. Račkus and public organisations of Lithuanian emigrants in the USA. It also provides a full list of the exhibits, as well as illustrations of the most memorable items from the exposition.
