Oginski family were famous patrons, collectors, and nurturers of culture and art. The M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art preserves the largest part of the art collection of the Oginski family, brought from the Plungė manor in 1925. A large part of the collection consists of portraits of the Oginski family and various artworks from the 17th – 19th centuries created by Lithuanian, Polish, and Western European masters. In 2015, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Michael Cleophas Oginski, the exhibition "Faces from the Past" was organized at the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art, where this collection was presented to the public for the first time. On the occasion of the same anniversary, this catalog was also published. It contains all the identified exhibits of the Oginski collection kept in the museum.
