This book first started to take shape in 2020, when Lina Pranaitytė, the head of the Memorial Museum Departament of the National M.K.Čiurlionis Art Museum , and Vika Pranaitytė, the architect, came up with the idea of showcasing the work of Arno Funkas at the Memorial House of Adelė and Paulius Galaunė, designed in 1932 by Funkas himself. Arno Funkas was one of the most interesting and mysterious interwar architects of Kaunas. Precious little information has survived about his life, but the elegant modernist buildings he designed paint a rich picture of the residents, daily life and evolution of Kaunas in 1919-1939.
